My learning and management plan

On the first day of school I like to make a plan of acceptable and not acceptable behaviors for the class.

These are my 5 rules that are non negotiable:

1. Respect those around you.

2. Listen when others are talking.

3. Raise you hand.

4. Walk in the class and the school.

5. Always look for ways to help others.

My management plans:

I will usually group students in assigned seating in groups of 4. I have learned that this is one of the best arrangements so that students can collaborate together as they learn.

I do my best to encourage students in their work habits. I want students to feel like they have accomplished things based on their work ethics, not how smart they are. I try not to use the phrase "You are so smart." Instead I try to use phrases like "You must have worked really hard on this" or "You did a really good job on this."

There will be an area in the back of my classroom that students can use anytime during the day to "cool down". Students cannot take anything to the back table because there are coloring sheets, stress balls, and other small distressing objects. Students can only spend a maximum of 5 minutes at the back table at a time. I have these rules so that students can work through their feelings without disrupting the class.

I am also always available for students to talk to if they need. I am more than happy to help any way that I can.

Positive reinforcement is the main objective in my classroom. I want to make sure that every student is safe and feels valued. That being said, if a student needs to be removed for safety or lack of respect reasons (either for themselves or others) from the classroom, recess, or a special, I will not hesitate to do this. It will be my last resort, but it will happen if needs be.

Important notes:

Throughout the school year I will be using the following online resources
